Weight Loss Success – Erika S
Real People. Real Progress. Real Weight Loss.
Tell us about yourself. I am 33 (almost 34!) years old, even though sometimes I act and feel like I’m about 25. 😉 I have been in sales and marketing for almost 3 years and recently decided to get a second Master’s degree in counseling. I keep my schedule busy, busy, busy because I can’t stand downtime (but I am working on it because I know rest is good for me!). I LOVE running, and I love being physically active in general, whether it’s Boot Camp, MET class, weight lifting or any other strenuous physical activity.
What are your greatest fitness/health accomplishments so far? I have lost 10 pounds since I started incorporating Sharon’s individualized Meal Plan into my active lifestyle. Most importantly, I have kept it off!
What do you enjoy most about fitness and being healthy? I like feeling strong, flexible, and comfortable in my own skin. Being healthy and being consistent with my workouts and healthy eating habits makes me feel confident in myself.
What are your goals? I would like to lose another 10 pounds because I got a little off track from my Meal Plan for a short time and know that I still have some work to do. The nice thing is losing 10 pounds sounds a lot less daunting than losing 20 pounds! 🙂
What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle? I’m motivated by the people around me. I want to set a good example for my loved ones and stick around a long time for them! I also would love to have a family of my own one day, and when I do, I want to be healthy enough to run around with kids and set a good example for them, Plus, let’s face it—looking good in a pair of tight jeans makes anyone feel pretty darn good! 🙂
Did you think you’d have this much success? I did because I had a lot of support from Sharon, my friends in MET class and Boot Camp, and my amazing mom. A good support system is key!
On a scale of 1 – 10 with 1 being easy and 10 being hard, how hard has this been for you? I would say a 5. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m pretty confident that I can do anything when I commit to it.
Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? I would never, ever go off the Meal Plan for any period of time! Sometimes life is crazy and makes it hard, but you have to figure out ways to make it work because the benefits are tremendous when you stick to it.
Are you still able to go out with friends and be social? Heck yeah! I love going out with friends and having a nice juicy burger and a beer (ok, maybe more than one… lol) and going dancing or just hanging out and socializing.
If you have tried fitness and nutrition plans in the past, what did you try? Why didn’t they work? How is this plan different? I’ve really never tried any kind of formal plan before because they all seemed awful and not really healthy. I’m not into starving myself or eating frozen food with a ton of ingredients I can’t pronounce. I’ve been into working out since I was in high school. I have always loved being active and sweating! But Boot Camp and MET are like nothing I did before. They are challenging and each class is different which I love. Sharon always keeps me on my toes!
What advice would you give to others who are hesitant to start? Those who are having trouble committing? Those who need accountability? JUST DO IT. Stop thinking about it. What is there to think about? If you care about your health, your body, your jeans size—whatever it is—do it for yourself. And know that Sharon will be there to support you through it!
What is the best part about working with Sharon? Sharon is a great motivator and extremely knowledgeable. She makes working out fun and keeps it interesting. She also has a great sense of humor, which I appreciate when I’m on burpee #15 ;).
What is the worst part about working with Sharon? I legitimately have no complaints. If you don’t like someone motivating you, making you laugh in class, and making sure you do things right, then you won’t like her. lol.
Are there any other comments you’d like to share? I’ve been working with Sharon for about 2.5 years, and my how time flies when you’re having fun! I’m stronger and slimmer than when I started. I feel more confident, and I think that comes across. She kicked my butt in my first Boot Camp class, and I loved it so much I now see her 4x per week—2x in Boot Camp and 2x in MET!
