Transformation Challenge Success – Korie C

I decided to participate in the Blast the Fat Transformation Challenge because I needed to make a change regarding what and how I ate and the attempts I had been making on my own continued to fail.  My biggest motivator was going to the doctor and finding out that my weight was only about 5 pounds shy of what I weighed at the end of my pregnancy with the twins in 2009.  That was a major wake up call.  Not to mention how miserable I felt when none of my clothes were fitting anymore.  Because our schedules are so busy, I had stopped cooking good foods and instead made whatever was easiest and fastest, which often times included stops at McDonald’s on the way to baseball games.  It wasn’t good for me and I wasn’t setting a good example for my family.

I had a really good experience with the Challenge.  It really helped that the plan got back to some very basic, healthy meals that repeated throughout the weeks.  I could prep ahead of time and it was easy to put together lunches and dinners.  I found that I wasn’t as hungry as I thought I would be and after just a week, I felt a lot better.

I’m so happy with my results.  I can’t believe that I’m 11 pounds lighter.  My clothes fit so much better and I have a lot more energy.  The pants that I am wearing in this photo were actually put away 2 years ago because they didn’t fit anymore.  I got them out and put them on this morning and not only do they fit, but they’re almost too big!  I still have some more weight that I want to lose but knowing that I’ve done this much already makes it so much easier to keep going.

I would definitely recommend the Challenge to anyone that wants to kick start their weight loss.  Because the plan used a lot of the same meals, the prep was easy and it gets you used to following a meal plan.  And because I was already in the habit of it, the transition to a new meal plan after the Challenge has been super easy.

A few other pluses that I would like to add – before the Challenge I was getting migraines about once a week.  Often they would keep me from work, or participating in activities with my family.  Since the Challenge, I haven’t had a single headache!  I can’t tell you the last time I’ve been pain-free for so long.  Getting those lost hours and days back is such a blessing and all thanks to simply changing my eating habits and feeding my body the right way.  Also, I’ve noticed my kids making healthier choices for themselves because they are following my example.  They’re replacing cold cereal with oatmeal and protein shakes for breakfast.  They are huge fans of warm Quest bars (especially chocolate chip cookie dough!).  And they’ve put away the chips and instead eat more fruits and veggies for snacks.  One of their new favorites is the spinach salads that I’ve started adding to our dinners.  So not only am I doing better for myself, but my kids are fueling their bodies in the right way too, which is great because they are so active.
