10 Exercise Tips

These tips are to help you get started with exercising in a smart and sustainable way.

  1. Set realistic but challenging goals.
  2. Have a plan that incorporates cardio and weight training.  If necessary, ask a qualified trainer to design one for you based on your goals.  The investment will pay for itself on day one of your program.
  3. Stick to the program.
  • Form is everything.  The amount of weight you are lifting is not.  Leave your ego at the door.
  • Don't worry about what anyone else in the gym is doing, what they are wearing, the music they are listening to, or how they smell.
  • Understand the difference between being sore and being hurt.  If you are hurt, stop immediately.
  • Refuel your body properly with supplements and/or food, and drink lots of water.
  • Scheduled recovery days are important.
  • Sleep is necessary for muscle recovery and growth.  Read more about the benefits of sleep.
  • Be proud of yourself.  If you follow these tips, you are on your way to improving your health and fitness level, and increasing your self-image and self-esteem.
