Calorie Content

If you are monitoring your calories or macronutrient ratios, it is important to know the difference between protein, carbohydrates, fat, and alcohol.

Protein provides 4 calories per gram.

Carbohydrate also provides 4 calories per gram.

Fat provides 9 calories per gram.

The only other substance that provides calories is alcohol, at 7 calories per gram.
